Wine authenticity: a multidisciplinary challenge

Paula Martins-Lopes from University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Portugal will present a talk concerning "Wine authenticity: a multidisciplinary challenge" during the First Wine & Science congress which will be held in Porto, Portugal on May 8-10, 2019.

Summary of Talk:

Wine adulteration/mislabeling is a practice that can harm economically a brand, leading to consumers trust decline. A robust wine authenticity scheme can only be achievable through a multidisciplinary approach involving both the geographical provenience and grapevine varietal identification. The talk will consist on dealing with this problematic, through a multidisciplinary approach, giving emphases to grapevine varietal identification using DNA-based methodologies.
